About the festival

Date: 16th – 18th December, 2022

Conceptualised as India’s only world music festival, the Vedanta Udaipur World Music Festival has firmly established itself as a unique experience in just 5 years. Over three days, against the backdrop of Udaipur’s mesmerising beauty and Rajasthan’s inimitable hospitality, cultural ambassadors from across the globe descend upon the city to celebrate the world’s oneness. Boundaries and language barriers become irrelevant. The success of the last 5 editions of the festival is testimony to people’s acceptance and ability to embrace and love all that is different.

Vedanta Udaipur World Music Festival – the first truly International Destination festival promoting Cultural Tourism in India, is a city-wide, multi venue music festival featuring over 130 global artists and collaborations with participation from over 10 countries witnessing a footfall of over 50,000 people every year. The festival withstands as the only and the biggest world music festival in the country and has been a game changer in the realm of performing arts in India, having successfully established Udaipur as a world music hub in the last few years.

A film shot by CNN International for their show ‘Travel Trends India’ highlights the Vedanta Udaipur World Music Festival as one of the most sought-after destination festivals in India. The film is being featured across 354 million full-time households and hotel rooms in more than 200 countries with UWMF as the only Music Festival that has been covered by CNN International.

This year, we aim towards preservation of the ‘Sarangi’, a rare instrument from Rajasthan that is a dying art. It is important to sustain it as a form that is passed down through generations. Through planned curation, on ground events and artist interaction, the festival will be a microcosm to a diverse, yet one world. Spread over three main picturesque venues, it offers immense diversity in music that celebrates different moods of the day right from a morning meditative raga to personifying romantic music at its best played beside the lakes in the afternoons. Evenings bring spirited youthful music that brings together people of all age groups.

The Vedanta Udaipur World Music Festival, in its 6th edition, brings the world together on one platform, bridging diversities and binding diverse people through music, joy and multiculturalism.

The festival features multiple venues spread across Udaipur city, which include welcome concerts at Maharana Pratap Airport & Udaipur Railway Station for a showcase of undiscovered Rajasthani artists and multiple artists’ workshop at schools for the students of Udaipur.
